Terms and Conditions

THOR’S on ICE at York Museum Gardens, York (the “Event”) is organised by THOR’S Event Ltd, trading as THOR’S on ICE (the “Organiser”).

By purchasing a ticket for, entering or participating in the Event, customers agree to these Terms and Conditions.

ICE SKATING TICKETS & BOOKINGS

1.1 Entry to an ice-skating session is subject to a valid ticket for the correct date and session time.

1.2 It is the purchaser’s responsibility to check their booking confirmation and tickets at the time of purchase and to notify the Organiser or box office promptly of any errors.

1.3 Tickets are non-refundable except where required by law or where a session is cancelled by the Organiser. This does not affect your statutory rights.

1.4 Subject to availability, customers may request to transfer their booking to an alternative session up to 48 hours before the booked session.

1.5 Where the replacement booking is more expensive, the customer must pay the difference. Where it is cheaper, no refund of the difference will be given.

1.6 Tickets must not be resold for commercial gain or transferred in connection with any unauthorised promotion, competition or commercial activity.

ARRIVAL & SESSION TIMES

2.1 Each ice-skating session lasts 45 minutes.

2.2 Customers should arrive at least 20 minutes before their booked skating session to allow sufficient time for check-in and skate fitting.

2.3 Customers are responsible for arriving in sufficient time for their booked session. Late arrival may result in reduced skating time or, where admission can no longer safely be accommodated, refusal of entry to that session.

2.4 Late arrival will not extend the booked skating session. Tickets will not normally be refunded or transferred where a customer misses all or part of their session because of late arrival.

CHILDREN

3.1 Children aged 11 years and under must be accompanied at the Event by a responsible adult aged 18 years or over.

3.2 Children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied and supervised on the ice by a responsible adult aged 18 years or over, who must also hold a valid skating ticket.

3.3 Parents and guardians remain responsible for the supervision and behaviour of children in their care throughout their visit.

SKATING SAFETY & ASSUMPTION OF RISK

4.1 Ice skating is a physical activity and carries inherent risks including slips, falls, collisions and injury. Customers participate at their own risk and the organizer is not liable for any loss or injury.

4.2 All skaters are responsible for skating within their own ability and for following these Terms and the instructions of rink staff, ice marshals and the Ice Manager.

4.3 The Organiser reserves the right to prevent an individual from skating, or to require them to leave the ice, where rink staff reasonably consider that continuing to skate would present a risk to that individual or to other customers.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS & FITNESS TO SKATE

5.1 Customers are responsible for deciding whether they are physically able to participate safely in ice skating.

5.2 Anyone who is pregnant, has a medical condition, recent injury, mobility issue or other condition that may be affected by skating should consider whether participation is appropriate for them and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.

5.3 Customers requiring assistance should speak to a member of the Event team before their session so that reasonable assistance can be considered where available.

SKATES & CLOTHING

8.1 Skaters must wear appropriately fitted ice skates while on the rink.

8.2 Hire skates are subject to size and availability. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse skating where suitable skates cannot be provided or safely fitted.

8.4 Loose clothing, scarves or other items that rink staff consider could create a safety risk must be removed or appropriately secured before entering the ice.

ALCOHOL & INTOXICATION

9.1 Anyone who appears to be intoxicated or otherwise impaired to an extent that Event staff consider it unsafe for them to skate will not be permitted onto the ice.

9.2 Anyone considered unsafe because of alcohol, drugs or other intoxicating substances may be removed from the ice and/or Event.

9.3 No refund will be provided where admission or skating is refused on these grounds.

9.4 The decision of the Ice Manager or Event Manager in relation to skating safety is final.

10.1 THOR’S on ICE is an outdoor winter Event and may continue to operate during rain, snow and other adverse weather conditions. Customers should dress appropriately for the conditions.

10.2 The Organiser may temporarily suspend, delay, shorten or cancel a skating session where it reasonably considers this necessary for safety or operational reasons, including severe weather, unsafe ice conditions, technical failure or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

10.3 Where the Organiser cancels a skating session before it begins, affected ticket holders will be offered an alternative session or refund, subject to their statutory rights.

10.4 Where a session is materially shortened or interrupted by the Organiser, customers may be offered an alternative session or other appropriate remedy, taking into account the amount of skating time already received.

10.5 This section does not affect customers’ statutory rights.

11.1 All visitors must comply with the Event’s operational and safety rules. Additional rules may be displayed at the venue.

11.2 Only customers holding a valid skating ticket may enter the skate-hire exchange area, except where assistance from a parent, guardian or carer is reasonably required.

11.3 Event stewards and staff are present for customers’ safety and their reasonable instructions must be followed.

11.4 The Organiser reserves the right to refuse admission or remove anyone from the Event for threatening, abusive or anti-social behaviour; behaviour likely to cause injury or damage; intoxication; or failure to comply with these Terms or the reasonable instructions of Event staff.

11.5 Where admission is refused or a person is removed because of their behaviour or failure to comply with these Terms, no refund will normally be provided.

SECURITY & PROHIBITED ITEMS

12.1 Visitors and their belongings may be subject to reasonable security searches as a condition of entry.

14.2 Visitors may take photographs and recordings for personal and recreational use, provided this does not interfere with the enjoyment, safety or privacy of other visitors.
